Worship with the Elders at Pinaow Wachi

Our community Elders’ Care Home, Pinaow Wachi, invites the churches in town to hold Sunday-afternoon church services for the residents. Each church is assigned one Sunday afternoon a month to come and minister to any of the Elders who would like to attend.

For many years, four churches in Norway House have shared in this ministry:

  • First Sunday: Kinosao Sipi Keenanow United Church

  • Second Sunday: Norway House Bible Church

  • Third Sunday: Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church

  • Fourth Sunday: St. Mark’s Anglican Church

The second Sunday of each month is the time given for our church to minister and worship the Lord with the Elders at Pinaow Wachi. Our service begins at 2:15 PM. We are thankful for this opportunity to share God’s Word and spend time together.

Singing, Scripture, and visiting

Our service is approximately 45 minutes of singing beloved hymns, Scripture reading, and sharing a devotional, closing with a few more hymns. Then we take a few moments to talk with and greet the residents before going home.

The service is mostly in English, with some Cree hymns. At times, those taking part also share in Cree.

These gatherings give us time to worship together and enjoy fellowship with the Elders. Visiting after the service is a valued part of our time at Pinaow Wachi each month.

Joining us

The service is mainly for the residents of Pinaow Wachi. Families visiting their loved ones are welcome to join us in worship.

Church members who would like to come along to sing, help minister, or visit with the residents are also welcome. Please speak with Pastor Ed or Karen beforehand.

We are grateful to Pinaow Wachi for welcoming the churches into the home, and to the neighbouring congregations that share in this ministry.

We are thankful to be able to visit and worship together with our Elders and encourage each other in the Lord.
